 Welcome to GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship!
We hope you find our website helpful and look forward to meeting with you and your family.

About Us:

GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that provides NAHRA certified instruction to children and adults with special needs. GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship was started in 2005 by Shelley Barry and offers instruction at several facilities in the East Baton Rouge area. If you are interested in participating in the program, please call GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship at (225) 766-1614 or e-mail Shelley Rose Barry at SBarry@GaitWay.org.

Volunteers are an integral part of GaitWay’s program and the reason it is able to operate. There are many opportunities for those with and without horse experience to participate. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Shelley Barry.  Monetary and material gifts are also greatly appreciated.

Our Mission:

“Gaitway Therapeutic Horsemanship is dedicated to improving the lives of people with cognitive, physical or emotional disabilities through the benefits of equine assisted activities.”

"There is nothing better for the inside of a person than the outside of a horse."

- Will Rogers

" We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:10
