I am so excited, even more excited after seeing Luke ride today!!!! Not only about the benefits I know he will get from this, but the smile on his face was PRICELESS!!!!! I cannot wait to see what all he will accomplish! When we were leaving, he said his legs felt relaxed and loose! … He said nothing hurts now or when he rode but he felt it pulling his abductors.

I just wanted to write to tell you how much I enjoyed the volunteer training I attended last week … Prior to attending the training, I already had an appreciation for your and the volunteer's dedication to Evan, and the other riders. Evan enjoys the riding sessions so much, and the riding sessions are great therapy for his upper body strength … As a parent I appreciate the way you address each rider's specific needs, and consult with therapists to find techniques that address each rider's therapy needs. I had no idea just how much went into the volunteer training … Everything about the training was a very serious focus on minimizing the risk of the riders. As a parent, I am comforted by the knowledge that such effort is put into ensuring my son's safety.

I worked with this program for two summers. It meant a great deal to me to be able to be a part of these children's lives … I loved the program very much not only working with the children but also working with the horses. It has been a great joy in my life to be a part of this program.

It is amazing to watch people of all ages respond to the horses at GaitWay. Horses inspire riders to push themselves to use muscles that may be weak and break communication barriers that people have been unable to breach. Volunteering with the GaitWay staff has been tremendously rewarding.

I would like to start off by saying that GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship has changed the way I view service. I am so glad I took this opportunity to volunteer with an amazing group of people; not only have I gained experience with horses, but I was also able to work with Ms. Shelley and the business side of GaitWay. I am now able to say that I know how to correctly balance a checkbook, advertise a large non-profit organization … and work comfortably with my superiors and peers. I know that the experiences I have gained while volunteering have made me a better person and have opened my eyes to how rewarding volunteer work can be and although I can't exactly put into words the feeling I have knowing that I have helped this organization grow, but I am so thankful that I am a part of such a wonderful, life altering program.
